Life Coaching gives you the opportunity and the tools to achieve the kind of life you would like and be the person you want to be. It is very different from counselling and takes a very positive approach to addressing specific personal aims such as job progression, relationships, overcoming fears and anxieties that hold you back from becoming the person you want to be. It examines the obstacles that you perceive to be there stopping you from achieving this in your current life and gives you the tools and the confidence to make those necessary changes. It doesn’t just give you a plan of action to reach a particular achievement but it gives you self-empowerment to continue being the person you want to be long after your course has ended.
Where does Hypnotherapy come into it?
Hypnosis can be used to help treat a wide range of issues which often stop people from being confident and in control in their day to day lives.
- Fears and phobias (from public speaking, to socialising, to small spaces, and many things besides)
- Physical conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, skin conditions and migraines
- Anxiety and stress
- Panic attacks
- Lack of confidence
Is it safe?
Yes. Totally. There are quite a few myths surrounding hypnosis that can make people a bit apprehensive of it but hypnosis is not always a trance state. It is, in fact, a natural, relaxed state of mind similar to whenever your mind wanders into a daydream, such as when you’re driving the same route home from work that you do every day and you realise as you get to your house that you hadn’t really been aware of the journey. If anything unusual or a potentially dangerous situation were to arise on that journey you would immediately snap out of your daydream. Similarly, you are totally in control when you are hypnotised and would be able bring yourself out of it or resist going into it if you didn’t feel comfortable with it. You are in control and your therapist is simply a guide.
So what is NLP?
NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is a set of skills that help you to be more in control of your thoughts and feelings and how you communicate with others. It will help you to think more clearly, to understand your own thought processes, moods and behaviour patterns and give you the insight to change them. It also helps you to interpret behavioural patterns of those around you and thus communicate and interrelate with others better. NLP has been adopted even by the corporate world where it has helped people with communication, influencing and leadership skills with great effectiveness.
The number of sessions required depends on each individual case and can be determined by talking to one of our life-coaches about what it is you want to gain or achieve from the sessions. Single sessions could be all that is needed but often for more complex cases the therapist will suggest a course.
