WHAT TYPES OF CLASSES CAN I CHOOSE FROM?

We currently run classes in Body IQ Somatics, Somatic Pilates, Primal Movement and Tai Chi. Click here to see all the class descriptions.

DO I NEED TO BOOK?

Generally it’s ok to just turn up but some of our classes can fill up so if you don’t want to risk it you can easily book via our timetable page

HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES?

At body IQ we keep our classes small. We put great importance on giving the best quality of instruction and maintaining your safety at all times. Neither of those things can be done in overcrowded gym-style classes with 30+ attendees which is why at Body IQ our maximum capacity is 18.  You can be sure to receive personal attention in every class.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear clothing that does not restrict your movement in any way.  Don’t wear baggy clothing that hides your form.  Your teacher needs to be able to see how you’re moving and make sure you’re not straining or putting yourself at any risk of injury.  All classes are taught barefoot (or in socks if you wish) and we ask that you remove your shoes before entering the studio.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

You’ll need to bring an exercise mat or a thick blanket to lie on. We do have spare mats if you forget! If you find it helps your comfort or it reduces neck strain, bring a small pillow too. And bring a bottle of water if you wish.

HOW LONG DOES A CLASS LAST?

All our group classes last one hour and start and finish punctually.  We regret that if you arrive after a class has started you will be unable to join that class.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT THE CLASSES?

The most important thing that you can do is ‘listen’.  The Body IQ approach is all about focus and awareness.  You need to listen carefully to the instructions which are delivered in a clear and concise way by your teacher.  And you need to listen to your body – how it moves and how it feels as you perform the movements.  You will find that this focus helps you relax as the multitude of thoughts and worries that rattle through your brain almost constantly will leave your mind and be replaced with a peace and a closer connection with your body.
