Beginner’s Mindfulness & meditation

Beginner’s Mindfulness & meditation

The course in a nutshell

You’re not the only one feeling the stresses of a 21st century lifestyle. Work, family life, technology, noise pollution and a multitude of other demands of daily life can all take their toll. Our introductory courses give a flavour of what meditation is and how it can have a positive impact on your life and wellbeing.

What difference can this course make to you? You can become a calmer, healthier, happier person.

Course content

In meditation we learn to counteract our natural negativity bias and become more mindful of our experience. There is a wealth of scientific, medical and academic research demonstrating how meditation and mindfulness can have a positive effect on: wellbeing, confidence, healing, stress responses, concentration, creativity, efficiency, focus and overall levels of happiness. These effects have been proven to occur on both an immediate and long term basis, physically changing the structure of the brain and creating a healthier, happier new you.
What to expect
We will explore ways for you to sit still and comfortably which works for you and your body. After scanning through the body and relaxing, we will engage in a short period of mindful movement to further understanding of the flow of body and breath. Then you will be fully led through an embodied meditation on the breath or development of positivity and kindness.
Please rest assured that you will not be required to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with. You will be guided and supported throughout. Anyone can meditate with the proper guidance and a busy mind, anxiety, lack of self confidence or patience, or even fear of being able to sit still, can all be easily overcome.

Meet the teacher

Mark is passionate about helping people to develop to their full potential, to be calmer and happier human beings. Mark has been meditating for 26 years and has been taught by a wide range of internationally respected teachers in a diverse range of meditative practices.
He found that many forms of meditation, while useful, often focus upon specific aspects of the person (breath, mind, body, emotions...), leading to a partial and limited understanding of the self. Mark favours an integrated approach to meditation, combining all of these aspects through body awareness practices, mindfulness, and visualisation techniques to guide you in finding your own personal practice.
Mark values simplicity and contentment in life, spending time with his family enjoying the outdoors and the natural environment.
