Would I benefit from a one to one session?

1-to-1 Somatics

1-to-1 sessions are ideal if:

  • You have an injury or any type of chronic pain.
  • You want to understand your body better and to see its potential.
  • You are planning on joining a class and want to get a headstart.
  • You are serious about finding a way to get well and stay well.
  • You want to improve your performance as a sportsperson, runner, horse-rider, musician or any other physical activity.

How would I benefit from a 1-to-1?

If you have an injury or chronic pain, attending a Body IQ 1-to-1 session will help you understand where the root cause of your problem lies and, most importantly, what you can do to put it right. But even those of you who aren’t suffering from pain or injury will benefit from a 1-to-1 as it can identify muscle weaknesses and poor postural habits which over time are likely develop into visibly poor posture, chronic pain and stiffness and will increase risk of injury.  A 1-to-1 session can give you the knowledge you need to prevent this from ever happening.

And for those of you who partake in any physical activity which involves repeated movements or excessive use of the same muscles, such as a sport, a 1-to-1 can arm you with the knowledge you need to move more freely, efficiently and confidently thus improving your performance.

What happens in a 1-to-1 session?

In a 60 minute session you will be muscle-tested to see if there are any problematic muscle weaknesses.  You will then be taught some gentle but very effective exercises which will be specifically tailored to remedy the issues that are particular to you. You will also be given a simple exercise program to go home and follow for a period of approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Then you will come to a follow-up session lasting 45 minutes in which your progress will be assessed and new exercises may be taught to further your progression.

Will it fix me?

Body IQ strongly advocates the belief that only you can fix yourself, so no, a 1-to-1 session will not ‘fix you’.  It will however, teach you about your body, what’s wrong with it, and what you can do to change it.  In short, it will teach you to fix yourself.

How many sessions do I need to come to?

We recommend a minimum of two sessions but for more complex or chronic cases we may recommend more. We will never pressurise you into further follow-up sessions, but think about it! If your problems are the result of 40+ years of bad postural and movement habits then you can’t expect to fix everything in the blink of an eye.  We will only recommend more sessions if we know you will benefit from them.
